A lonely Canadian goose has been searching for its mate, week after week, at a shopping centre in Toronto — tugging at the heartstrings of shoppers.
Staff at a nearby LCBO shop say the goose’s mate was struck by a car and killed.
“It’s very sad. You can tell he misses his wife and he’s wandering around looking. Wondering,” says shopper Colin Tobias, who has noticed the lone bird frequenting the area for the past several weeks.
According to a wildlife expert, geese mate for life. It’s believed the lonely bird is male due to its size, but it can be hard to identify the bird’s sex just by looking at it because Canadian geese are not sexually dimorphic.
Morganne Campbell has more on the sad story of this heartbroken goose.
