Russia-Ukraine conflict: Stoltenberg speaks to media after meeting of NATO leaders | LIVE

1 min read

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg will speak to the media on Thursday after the military alliance held an extraordinary summit to discuss the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on NATO leaders to take “serious steps” to help Kyiv fight Russia.

Before the summit began on Thursday, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau insisted NATO was not just a geographical alliance, but a “group of countries who stand together because we believe in democracy, in the rule of law, in the defence of human rights and the values that underpin all societies.”

He added that the “illegal, brutal” invasion of Russia was unacceptable and that NATO was “united” in its support for Ukraine and condemnation of the continued attacks on the eastern European country.
