Moldovan pigeons help Ukrainian refugees temporarily forget about war

1 min read

Victor, a well-known pigeon breeder in Moldova, and his wife Galina have welcomed Ukrainian refugees to their guesthouse in Palanca in southeastern Moldova, offering them not only a bed to sleep in but also the opportunity to relax in the company of his birds.

The pigeons offer Ukrainian refugees some respite from the war.

One of his guests, Natalia, who fled from nearby Odesa with her son, said her son could finally sleep properly after arriving at the guesthouse.

More than 3.3 million refugees have already fled Ukraine through its western border since Russia invaded the country on Feb. 24.
