Ukrainian refugees were flooded with emotion as they spoke from Romania on Saturday. They have migrated there to escape the Russian invasion of their home country.
“I can’t speak without tears,” said Elenna Pugchova, a psychologist from Odesa.
“They are bombing Kharkiv, they are bombing Mykolaiv – it’s only 120 kilometres from Odesa – and it’s painful inside.”
Some 2,000 refugees are staying in a sports hall in Dumbraveni, Romania, which has been converted into a temporary shelter.
Romania has received more than 380,000 refugees from Ukraine since the start of the Russian war two weeks ago.
